THE WEEKS PREMIERE NEW SINGLE, ‘START IT UP’

Mississippi rockers THE WEEKS have premiered grooving new single Start It Up this week over at Team Rock.

The track is taken from hotly anticipated seventh album Easy which is set for release on Lightning Rod Records in just a few days.

Composed of twin brothers, Cyle and Cain on vocals and drums respectively, along with Sam Williams on guitar and Damien Bone on bass, the band formed at a Jackson high school back in 2006. Since then they’ve relocated to country music capital Nashville, and worked with the writers of modern day classic Sex on Fire (KINGS OF LEON) on the latter’s label Serpents & Snakes.

Of the record, frontman Cyle Barnes says, “We called it Easy because every time I make music with these guys, it’s easy. It feels good. But the other side of it is there’s nothing easy about being in a band. There’s nothing easy about staying together for ten years and still wanting to make music. We have the hardest and easiest job on the planet. But it works for us.” Thematically, Easy explores new ground for the band. Bassist Damien Bone explains, “We just wanted to make a rock record. We weren’t as concerned making it a southern rock record. The southern thing is always going to part of what we do. ”

You can pre-order Easy, with special packages—including one of a kind artwork by band members Cain and Cyle Barnes, here and listen to the new track below. The album is due for full release on April 7th.
