JANUARY GIG RECS: A SHOW PER WEEK (-ish)

We’re back! Last year was a personal and political dumpster fire, and if any more bands turn out to be bad eggs we’re going to be cancelling and subsequently banning all music. Like, as an entity. Anyway here are some potentially still decent people gracing our city this January. (featuring MILKTOAST, PARAMORE & MONGOL HORDE).

MILKTOAST AT NICE N SLEAZY, 10.01.18

It’s DIY time again. Hosted by our fine friends at Struggletown, Glasgow math-rock lot MILKTOAST bring their new self-titled EP to the basement. It’s chill, smooth and the perfect indie accompaniment to your post-Christmas blues.

PARAMORE AT SSE HYDRO, 20.01.18

From old-school pop-punk to regular old pop, Hayley Williams and crew hit the biggest of Glasgow’s humble music venues. Their latest record After Laughter landed a spot on our favourite albums of last year with its bubbly hooks and infectious danceability, both of which are bound to translate onto the stage and all the way up to the nosebleed seats. Some good vibes to start your year off right.

MONGOL HORDE AT KING TUTS, 25.01.18

MONGOL HORDE is the dubiously named, New Noise-esque side project from folk punk singer FRANK TURNER. Based purely on their last show in town, you can expect heavy riffs, some minor screaming and a handful of allusions to THE BEATLES being time travelling song stealers. Real serious stuff.
